Clerk 1 - Municipal Court (Full-Time) — Aug 28
Jackson Township is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time Clerk I position within the Municipal Court. This entry-level position performs routine clerical work involving document processing, recordkeeping, payment processing, and assistance to the public regarding basic court procedures. The position offers training opportunities for advancement within the New Jersey Judiciary. Salary range: $42,220 - $45,598 as established by contract. A complete job specification is attached. Responsibilities Receive, screen, review, verify, and process court documents, applications, forms, and fees. Assist the public in person and by telephone with routine court procedures and payment-related questions. Enter and retrieve information using court-related electronic and manual recordkeeping systems. Organize, file, maintain, and retrieve court records and correspondence. Prepare routine reports, forms, correspondence, and materials for distribution. Process payments and perform basic mathematical calculations and tabulations. Assist with scheduling, docket preparation, and other Municipal Court functions as assigned. Perform other related duties as required. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows, email, and standard office applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Ability to work accurately within prescribed timeframes and follow established procedures. Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with court personnel, attorneys, government officials, and members of the public. Must comply with the New Jersey Judiciary Code of Conduct. A valid New Jersey Driver’s License may be required if necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of general office routines, practices, procedures, and equipment following a period of training. Ability to organize assigned clerical work and develop effective work methods. Ability to receive, review, sort, index, file, and retrieve various types of documents and records. Ability to perform routine calculations and maintain accurate financial and administrative records. Ability to operate office equipment and utilize electronic or manual information systems. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and customer-service focus. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, court personnel, and the public.
